Dinosaur Valley State Park is right up the road from Dinosaur World just outside Glen Rose, Texas. Prairies as well as lakes are flanked by the Paluxy River. The history of this area goes back an estimated 113 million years ago. The park is known for it's sandstones and limestones. Many animals such as wild turkey, bobcat, beaver, raccoon, coyote, squirrel, and fish can be seen at the park. Over 1,500 acres of land were purchased in 1969, and is officially a National Natural Landmark by the National Park Service. Anyway, here are some pics of the park.
This is a look downstream after I crossed over stones in the Paluxy River.
This is a look from the opposite side downstream which I think was a very good view. I'm standing on a stone in the river taking these shots!
This is the area that dinosaur tracks were discovered in the 19th century. Scientists believe the tracks are of the Acrocanthosaurus which was about a 20-foot long dinosaur that moved on it's hind legs.
A description of the Sauropod Trackway. Yes, that is my reflection in the background! LOL!
A look from the top of the entrance where you can cross over stones to get to the other side. As you can see, it does attract visitors from all over. Funny that many of those people were at Dinosaur World when I was, and followed each other over here to the park.
This is from the top of another location of dinosaur tracks though this area was blocked off. If you click on the picture, you'll notice a turtle trying to get upstream just above the stone in the river.
This is a look down the stream in the blocked off area as I was able to follow a trail to get another picture.
My review:
The bad: You can camp out here at the park, but you cannot leave once it closes at 10pm. You have to wait until 7am the following day to leave the park again. So knowing that, make sure if you're staying overnight that you have what you need before 10pm. Like Dinosaur World, it's a good drive away to find something to eat at night if you're not cooking out.
The good: The price to get into the park is only $5. Yes, you read right. You can park your car in designated areas of the park, and there's plenty of opportunities to see an abundance of animals and wildlife there. They have a gift shop as well as maps of where you can go to the park in order to see what you want. A very ideal place for campers and hikers.
Overall: The price is more than reasonable, and it is a worthwhile place to get away from the daily grind in this relaxing atmosphere. You never know what you'll see at the park, and the views as well as hiking trails makes it appealing for all types of people. So if you're going to Dinosaur World, then you might as well give this place a look since it is right up the road.
Thanks for viewing. Up next are my vacations reviews on Win Star World Casino to be followed the Dallas World Aquarium.

Hi Greta! :)
I know you've had trouble opening my blog, and I'm sorry for that. Hopefully, the problems won't prevent you commenting again.
I'm still trying to learn a little Portuguese from you, but I have a long way to go. Thankfully, I can translate what you said, and I appreciate the hugs my dear friend! :)
Whoa! That's amazing David! I bet you felt like in a Spielberg's production, but without alive dinos :-P. Nice work with the site, and like Greta said, still lagging to open it. Maybe because our internet connection isn't so good. She indicated me, and she's a friend of mine too (I dunno if she will like if I say that she's actually my girlfriend, but anyway, I already said i...!)=-X
Keep it up! :-D
PS: Forgive my bad English!
i would love to take a trip through the park myself!
everything that we have heard or watch from the television makes dinos so attractive. =)
Dude you continue to live the dream, travelling the country 1 state at a time. Your the man Dave.
By the by, did you hear about Bradford's plans to jump to the big show next season?? Risky move after surgery but if he gets hurt for OU again next season he might not be drafted at all. I can't say I blame the kid.
Good luck out there Dave
that's a relaxing place...and pretty neat...
whoa!dinosaur track...awesome! ;)
Eduardo, nice to see you over here!
Yes, I'm aware of the problems that Greta has had opening up the site. Some have had similar problems.
Anyway, that's very cool about you and Greta. She's very beautiful from the pics I've seen, and she's very talented, too. But she's very kind, too.
And don't worry about your English over here. I know it isn't your first language.
Thanks for the comment my friend! :)
I agree Levian. There's plenty to do at the park and dinos are attractive for many!
Thanks for the comment dear friend! :)
Rad, I was glad to get away from work with trip to Dallas.
Yes, I posted about Bradford on here right after the news leaked. He's doing what is best for him after talking to the right people.
I'm home and will be for a few days.
Thanks for the comment brother! :)
