Last night, one of my friends and co-workers Jeff and I went to Oakland to watch a baseball game between the Athletics and Seattle Mariners. He and I are friends on Facebook as well, and it was funny how this came about.
Originally, he found out I was staying in nearby San Jose when he left a message on my wall wanting to see if we could meet up somewhere. I told him what exit I stayed on, and he said he was near me. I called him yesterday afternoon to see what he had in mind to do, and told me about the Athletics being in town for a night game. I asked him what hotel he stayed in, and it was the same one as me! Even funnier is the fact he's staying directly across from me in the hotel I'm in. So for almost four days, we had no idea we were literally across the hall from one another while communicating to one another on Facebook!
Anyway, we got box tickets for only $30 and were six rows from the field in a game where the attendance was only about 15,000! At least I got to see the Coliseum and took some decent shots of the stadium as we sat on the home side of the field. Oh yeah, the Athletics won 9-5 in this game!
The first is a shot of Mike Sweeney of the Mariners stepping up to the plate. As my friend Jeff is my witness, he hit a home run on the very next pitch to give the Mariners a brief lead in the game!
The backdrop on the visitor's side of the stadium.
The banners of their early success in winning World Series titles when playing in Philadelphia.
A shot of the left field wall in the first inning of the game near where we were sitting.
The retired numbers of Hall of Famers Rollie Fingers and Jim "Catfish" Hunter.
Another shot of the scoreboard opposite from us.
A shot of the scoreboard directly over us on the home side.
This is a shot of Ken Griffey going back to the dugout after grounding out to end the 8th inning. He attracted attention from the crowd with fans taking pictures of him batting since he's been one of the most popular players in the game for many years.
The mascot pays our section a visit, and many kids were around in this area of the stadium.
This is a shot of the Oracle where the Golden State Warriors play. This was taken after the game was over in Jeff's truck.
Hopefully, I'll get to see a Giants game before my California work is done. According to my boss, I only have two more trips to California for work which will be done in the first week of October. After that will be time for a vacation to Dallas, Texas!
Thanks for viewing, and for all of you that visited! I'll be blog hopping shortly!

How I wish I can watch baseball as close as where you are. I would enjoy watching this game than football. I can understand better with the game ruling of baseball than football that is why. I love the good shots you have in here. Thanks for sharing. ;)

wah.. Im sure you enjoy the game, don´t you? :-D Have a nice day Mr. D..
Congrats on making it to a game. Crowds just don't seem to flock to see the A's.
hello D. I've been once to a baseball game here in LA. I think that was last month. I can't believe how big the stadium. Honestly, I like baseball. During my high school and college years, I always participated the game (softball) during our school intramurals. I am not a good player but I've been once a catcher and many times as a pitcher.....Don't worry D. They chose me because nobody wants to be a pitcher and a catcher that time..lol. :(.
I am glad you have a good time watching the game and you have time to watch it even though you are busy in your career. take care D and thanks for the visit and friendship. :)
