Welcome to the first edition of What If? Fantasy Blogging. This is where I look back at blogger's season and factor in what his fantasy numbers would look like if the game existed. Today, we look back at the current 2008 season for longtime Sporting News blog writing superstar and owner of Lester's Legends site, Ryan Lester.
NOTE: This is NOT to be taken seriously. For those who have followed me on Sporting News, you know to expect just about anything from me.
Here's the scoring system for Blogger:
Total posts: 1 point each
Total posting days: -10 points each
Website Outlook Value: 1 point per dollar
Daily Page View Average(according to Website Outlook): 1 point each
Main Feed Subscribers: 10 points each
Post Notification Subscribers: 10 points each
Followers: 10 points each
Here are the stats and numbers for Lester's Legends' 2008 season so far(thru November 16):
Total posts: 985 = 985 points
Total posting days: 321 = -3210 points
Website Outlook Value: 4,044.20 = 4,044 points
Daily Page Views: 1,181 page views = 1,181 points
Main Feed Subscribers: 73 = 730 points
Post Notification Subscribers: 74 = 740 points
Followers: NA = NA
Total points: 4,470 points
Points Per Day: 13.93
After his first two years of blogging, Lester has had his best season to date so far in 2008. He got out to a slow start with a 2.06 ppd(posts per day) average in the month of January. However, Lester heated up along with the summer with a 3.87 ppd in the month of August. In October, he had his best month by having a 4.29 ppd. He's currently on pace to set his own monthly mark in November as he's averaging 4.81 thru the 16th. His Website Outlook value has increased over the year as he's been one of the most productive sports bloggers around. For the record, he's been the least penalized blogger in the NBL in 2008 which tells you he doesn't beat himself in his posts.
His blogging/writing career has included activity on such sites as Sporting News and Associated Content. The third-year blogging veteran has had quite a remarkable career as he's currently the all-time leader in blog views in the Sporting News community. So far in his breakout year, Lester has a career-high 3.07 posting average. He has put up MVP-type numbers for the season, and one has to wonder how he'll perform in the playoffs. Or should I say by the computer polls which could send him to the Blog Championship Series(BCS). His schedule the rest of the way appears to be the toughest of the year with the holidays approaching, but this is why we post the blogs!
The former All-American is on his way to a NBL Hall of Fame career as long as technical issues on-line don't occur that shortens his time in the National Blogging League. It also helps to have the same server or site administrator so that he doesn't have to learn a new blogging-style offense in the off-season which could cause his numbers to suffer. This has been one of the best seasons in NBL history!
