The following are matchups I would like to see for programs that have NEVER played against one another in the history of college football. Some of the matchups may surprise you either by what they've done or that you may be shocked they've never played against one another before. Okay, here's my list....
Oklahoma vs Florida: I really wished Spurrier was around so that he could've faced his old DC Bob Stoops during the season. This could very well be the best matchup of two teams that have never played one another.
USC vs Boise State: Okay, some of you are probably questioning this. But this could be a very fun game, and let's not forget the upsets we've seen in college football in recent years. Afterall, Boise State did beat Oklahoma two seasons ago in a bowl game, so there's certainly no guarantees for USC here. Should Boise State go to USC to play, they'll play in a different culture far from what they've seen before.
Texas vs Florida State: Suprisingly, this is one of few teams that either school has never played. It would be nice to get a Mack Brown vs Bobby Bowden coaching matchup if they can, but I don't think Bowden will be around that much longer coaching.
Notre Dame vs Auburn: It's hard to believe these two schools have never played each other before. These two schools are two of the better programs ever, so it would be fun to see this one.
Alabama vs Oregon: This is a classic SEC vs Pac-10 matchup. Alabama has risen back up as a program, and Oregon has a solid team out West. Right now, it would be a classic defense vs offense encounter when both are healthy.
Michigan vs Texas Tech: Even though Michigan is down right now, this could be a good one to watch in a couple of years. If Rodriguez gets his players to buy into the spread offense, then this would be a very good offensive show to watch facing the pass-happy Red Raiders.
Nebraska vs Navy: Nebraska was once known for their option, and Navy has led the nation in rushing for the last few years with their own triple option. This could have really been a game where neither team threw the ball if they played a few years back.
Penn State vs Oklahoma State: Don't look now, but both of these schools are good at the same time. It's not out of the realm that they could meet in the post-season this year. Now that would be something to have two teams not expected to challenge for the national title meet up in the Orange Bowl. I'm not predicting, but I'm just saying.
Tennessee vs Missouri: The only BCS team Tennessee has never played that borders their state is Missouri. It's been a very disappoiting season in Knoxville, and Mizzou is a program that is among the best right now. But things change quickly in college football, so you never know who will rise and fall every year.
LSU vs UCLA: This is yet another SEC vs Pac-10 matchup that has never happened. Les Miles vs Rick Neuheisel would be interesting to say the least.
Ohio State vs Virginia Tech: Okay, I feel comfortable putting Ohio State against someone not from the SEC or Pac-10. This would be a great coaching matchup with Tressel vs Beamer.
Georgia vs Minnesota: Now if Minnesota wanted to really prove how far along they are out of conference, then face a team in the SEC team you've never faced before. I really like the job the Gophers have done, and I still think Mark Richt is one of the better head coaches in college football.
Colorado vs Georgia Tech: Remember 1990 when these two schools split for the National Title? Where was the BCS then when we needed it?
California vs South Carolina: Yes, another SEC vs Pac-10 showdown that has never taken place. Tedford vs Spurrier just sounds intriguing to me.
I wanted to give schools on this list one matchup each that they've never had before. Also, Oklahoma has never played Georgia which I wouldn't mind seeing either. Are there other matchups you would like to see from schools that have NEVER played one another before in their history?
Tomorrow, I'm going to have three entries for my FSD History Flashback because it was tough to pick one that stands out above the rest. Two of the moments took place on the same day, but they'll be seperated along with the other one that happened, too.

I wish I could get into college football, but it is hard for me. To many games with so many no names persay.
MadMan: I understand that. I did part of my growing up in state that has strong roots in college football so that's why I like the game.
Penn State vs Oklahoma State:
OMG my house would implode LOL!
Cindy- That could very well happen this year. I would say Oklahoma and Penn State, but I know they played before. Oklahoma State is a team that is balanced and very good. Of course, Penn State has a real shot to win the Big 10 now.
but my house, my poor poor neighbors, between me & the ball & chain. bad enough i'm eagles & he's steelers LMAO!
great fun david & great stuff....as always !
Cindy- LOL! I would have liked to have seen that at your house when the Steelers and Eagles played earlier in the season!
